the weather... and our drama..

I can't even describe the weather right now...
Okay I can.
It is like a slushy snow storm.
This morning we awoke to 4 inches more of snow.
And it is still snowing.
Having a little mini van with balding front tires we figured church was not happening for us.
We decided Jeff and Matthew should go and He planned on taking his 4-runner.
The rest of us watched Noggin on TV. I sat looking out at the snow, and I decided we could all go. We should all go.
Right before Jeff left to take Matthew to church, we decided to give it a go. Jeff would have to make 6 trips in the 4-Runner. All of us taking a turn. We would bum rides from ward members to get us all home. But we were determined to go to Church.
We heard the plows driving down the street and with a relief knew it was okay to drive the Van to church.
We only decided this 20 minutes before church. But we made it and we all were glad we went.
As Church finished, the sun came out and the rain came down.
It rained off and on the rest of the day.
But Now as I type the snow has return with a force.
and now we are in fear of the power going out.
I am gonna try and take pictures of the snow tomorrow.
I can post the pictures, so you can see...the drama...
that is... if the power is still on.

Oh my aching back!

So the beginning of this week Jeff put his back out.
Long story short... he was shoveling snow at work.. ( I know, why don't they make the inmates do it) the shovel was not a good shovel and then the next day he had to assist in tackling an difficult inmate to the ground.
His back was fine, very sore, but fine until Monday morning when he went to pick up Emma in her car seat, that is when his back went out.
After a doctors visit and getting paper work set for work he is off work and at home sitting around taking cat naps.
Lucky dog.... okay so he is on meds and can be in a lot of pain, maybe not so lucky.
But if only when my back went out I would have the free time to sit around and do nothing.
I really do feel bad for Jeff and I am trying my best to help him in every way.
he works hard in a deplorable place, just so we have all the things we need.
I am just slightly jealous.
When my back hurts I still have to function and take care of people and work.
Maybe I am having sympathy pains for Jeff, because my back is killing me.
Oh, baby is crying, I guess I need to get back to work.
Can I take a break today?
I guess not.
I am the mom.
We don't get breaks.

Once there was a Snowman....

Snowman, Snowman....
Once there was a Snowman tall, tall, tall!
In the sun he melted, melted, melted.
In the sun he melted small, small, small.

The kids made a cute snowman with my niece Mia.
oh so cute!

today it doesn't look so good.

Sledding down Willard hill

We went to a place in town called Willard Hill. it isn't exactly in town. it is about 20 minutes away.
My parents came up for a visit and brought along my niece Mia. She wanted to play in the snow.
We had a blast.
And my mom...a grandmother of 19...went sledding down Willard Hill with the boys and Mia.
Matthew is a pro. Nathan mostly hung with Mia and Grandma. Caleb was a sledding maniac!!!
And there was no stopping Sammy. He would go higher and higher.
Too funny. Last time we went he wouldn't even go down with out mom!
Talk about fun!!!!!
I was brave enough to try a few times myself.
It was fun.
Jeff put his back out at work and couldn't venture on the hill, but he watched Emma sleeping in the van and attempted to bring her up over to us but his back just couldn't do it.
here are a few pictures of the fun.
I will post more later.
Anyone wanna go?
We are gonna go again next week!

I love having a girl.

Tonight as I folded the cutest part of my mountain of laundry, it didn't hit me that I had a girl, like it usually does.
Folding her precious little pink striped footed pajama's and matching up her tiny little socks is my favorite part, maybe my only favorite part about folding laundry, And I didn't even notice.
Emma has been very cranky these last couple of nights.
Squealing like a girl.
The highest pitch screams.
Those screams I used to laugh about, because she was a girl, because I actually had a girl, now just make me run to her so it will stop.
But just a few moments ago, I went to move the clothes from the washer into the dryer and I found a little tiny white hair clip.
Shaped like a little bow.
My heart melted.
I have a girl.
I have a girl in my house.
I have a girl and I just love that I do.
Just seeing the little bow shaped hair clip made my very unproductive day all worth while.
But now, what I wanna know is how it got in the washing machine.

SNOW!!!!!! We Have SNOW!!!!

What a winter wonderland!
The storm we got all prepared for came and dumped snow on us,
but it wasn't as scary as it was suppose to be.
No power outage.
The boys were very upset about that one.
They wanted to use the new flash lights we got them.
Here are just a few of the gorgeous views from
our back yard and front yard.
BRrrrrrr.... it is cold.

I hate it when the power goes out.

I like this town, I do.
I would rather live in Sacramento, with my family, but I do like this town.
I hate it when every winter the power goes out.
Last winter it was out off and on for a few days.
this last time was 4 hours.
I freaked out!
I don't know why.
Maybe it was because I felt I had zero control over everything.
Maybe it was because I had made plans for the day to clean out my kitchen and didn't get to.
Maybe it was because Jeff was home and I could lose it.
Jeff was gone the last few years at work when the power was out and I had to be in control and not lose it in front of the kids.

Tonight I just wanted to cry and pull out my hair.

We need to be more prepared next time. It will happen again. it always does.
This week we will have to get the BBQ tank and fill it and get flash lights for everyone. and a few more candles.
and totally fix a cover/screen for the fireplace so we can heat the house.
make sure we have ice in the freezers and keep our cell phones fully charged.

see listening to the prophet to be prepared is a good idea.
duh!

A special thanks...to my Mom.

Mom, you are the best person I know.
To let us stay at your house for a week.
To endure 4 little boys and Emma, Jeff and I. Makes you a saint.
To share your cubbards and refriderator with us makes you even better.
You are the least selfish person I know.
Your generosity gave more than a normal Christmas gift to my kids.
You showed them, they are really loved and are more important than anything.
You have shown me how to be a good mother and grandmother.
You have showed me how to be a good person.
You are my favorite person.
I love you mom.
Thanks you for your home, you love and your help.
Thanks again for everything.

So STINKIN' Cold... Oh yeah, Happy New Year.

Oh man, it is cold in this house!!!!! It says it is 70 but it is NOT! It feels more like 60.

We need pellets for our Pellet stove. That heats the front room and kitchen.
And I am thinking we need a new filter for the heater, because the house is just not getting warm.
The pellets and filter will have to wait until tomorrow because everything is closed today.
So the first day of 2008 we will freeze.
Yay.
Well the last days of 2007 were not the greatest for me, but I will never forget it.
All the boys were sick. I have a little annoying cough. Jeff we have yet to see him sick.

We did have the best Christmas ever.
The boys had a great time in Sacramento. We got to see all the cousins, on both sides.
I have to go back a week.

December 22nd - We left for Sacramento on . Jeff did not have to work overtime and we were out the door and on our way an hour later than we wanted. but we made it to Sacramento without having to stop for gas or potty breaks, or a feeding for Emma. She was an angel and slept the entire way.We hit Aunt Aimee's house first and visited and then off to Keith and Karins and by the time we had dinner it was 10:15pm.

Deecember 23rd
We got up early and got ready for church for Aunt Aimee's ward to see Jacob do his part in the Christmas program. He was so cute. He did an excellent job. Next over to Aunt Carrie's for a Christmas Present. Then back home to Grandma Susi's where we changed our clothes and off to Keith and Karin's to visit again.

December 24th - Christmas Eve was a whirl wind of events. We got up late and then cleaned up, shortly after, we packed up the gang on over to Aunt Aimees again, over to do some last minute shopping and then back to Grandma Susi's to get ready for Christmas eve with Jeff's parents. We met up with Keith and Karin and drove my parents car to the airport ,who were on thier way home from Forida, and dropped off their car. We had a terrific time. Eating and playing games and watching movies. We left to go back to Grandma Susi's to await Santa. Emma, my sweet baby girl, would'nt go to bed. We stayed up wrapping the last of the presents until 2am.

December 25th - We slept until 9am, thankfully and the Christmas Day frenzy started. It was a great day. Until jeff had to leave to come back to work.

December 26th - The next day was very low key. the boys just played. and I got to do nothin' but visit with my Aunt Kathie. It was great.

December 27th - The next few days were not very exciting. I got to go shopping for clothes for Emma, my favorite thing to do.

December 28th - Friday Jeff got to come back and the boys got to do a sleep over at Keith and Karins.

December 29th - We had Emma's pictures in her Christmas dress taken at Walmart. She was so cute. We spent more than we should have, but they were hard to resist. She was so cute. So pretty.
We had a Birthday Party for a nephew at my moms, talk about crazy! Jeff went to the movies with his brother to see "I am Legend" jeff says it would have scared me.

December 30th - Sunday, I started to get sick. I missed church. jeff went to the baby blessing of and old friend and we were suppose to pack.
The boys started getting sick, right after dinner. It was a long night.

December 31st - We over slept and didn't leave, mostly due to not packing the night before, until noon. Forgetting a few things and meeting my dad to get them, meeting Aunt Aimee for a few things, and finally after filling up the tank and a small lunch we were on our way home.
We hit Reno to get food and that didn't get up home until 7:15 at night!!!
We unloaded the van, well , jeff and the boys did, and go the boys who were sick, bathed and in bed, by 9pm, I went to the store to get last minute things that were forgotten in reno and and we were ready to ring in the new year by 10 pm.
Party time.
Not even close. Emma wouldn't stay asleep and shortly after midnight, nathna was up and barfing. Emma joined him 20 minutes later.

So the first few minutes of 2008 was great. But to say the begining of the year 2008 was good is really hard for me.
yes we were all together and jeff didn't have to work, but it just was not as exciting as it used to be. I guess that makes me a grown up?

I will never forget the last days of 2007.
And the first minutes of 2008 will last in my memory.
Maybe next year will be better.
