Such a sad day.
Our sweet Zoey was taken to the pound.
She has had a huge (bigger then a golf ball) size lump on the base of her tail. It has grown very fast.
We have 5 kids and a new pay cut. Money was not our friend.
So we could not afford to even have it looked at.
We knew that because it was growing so fast, we figured it could be cancer. She stopped doing a few things, like wagging her tail and letting us know when she had to go outside.
We decided this morning after finding she had chewed the lump so much it was bleeding...a lot. it didn't stop at 9:30 this morning, so Jeff called around and we made the horrible decision.
Now if you have ever owned a dog you will understand our grief.
The hardest part was telling the boys.
Nathan and Caleb took it pretty good, but Sammy took it really hard.
Matthew is sad, but I don't think it has really hit them all yet.
Luckily, we have the pinewood derby tonight and cars to get ready to distract them for a little while.
She was a good dog.
She belonged to my sister Aimee first. She was having a baby and she didn't want 2 dogs and a new baby. We got her our first summer up here.
She was not real good with the boys at first. Sammy was not very nice, but Jeff let her know her place and she was such a good dog.
Always patient with Emma. But Emma was always hugging and kissing her.
I always felt safer with her here when Jeff was gone.
Boys are already asking for another dog.
I said maybe we will get a dog when we buy our own house.
For now we are thinking about fish.
Although they are not very good guard pets, they are much cleaner.
The house will not be the same.
We will miss you Zoey.
